Ingredients
2 cups white flour
1/2 to 3/4 cups warm water
1 scant teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of olive oil
2 teaspoons dry yeast
Preparation
Put the flour, salt and yeast into a large bowl. Stirring with a spoon, add the olive oil and enough water until the dough just comes together.
Flour your work surface and knead the dough for about 10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic. Form the dough into a tight ball so the top is really nice and taut. Place it onto a floured baking sheet and form it into a long and thin baguette shape, thinner than usual as it will expand while it rises.
Cover the tray with lightly oiled plastic wrap not too tight so the dough has room to expand. Put in a warm place until the doughdoubles in size, for about 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Sprinkle the top with flour. Put the dough into the oven. Bake until the bread is golden brown about 25 minutes.
